Buymanager has standardized packaging formats across all distributors, keeping only the 8 most relevant types. This results in a simplified reading grid for users while maintaining access to the original distributor packaging descriptions.
Why do you need it?
- Simplifies packaging comparison across different distributors
- Provides a consistent terminology for packaging types
- Reduces confusion when analyzing pricing options
- Makes it easier to identify the most suitable packaging option for your needs
Prerequisites and audience
- All Buymanager users who use the WebQuote service
- No special administrative rights required
- Particularly useful for buyers and cost estimators
How it works
The standardized packaging types are:
- Cut Tape
- Digi-Reel
- Full Reel
- Tube
- Tray
- Bulk
- Other
- Unknown
Additional notes:
- Tape & Cut tape are considered identical
- Box & Bag are classified as Bulk
- All packaging types are standardized across all WebQuote services
Interface:
The reduced number of packaging types makes the interface more readable. In the WebQuote search results, as well as in the costing, users can now see two columns:
1. Standardized WebQuote Packaging: Shows the standardized packaging label
2. Supplier Packaging: Shows the original packaging name from the distributor
This approach maintains clarity while preserving the original distributor terminology for reference.
This standardization helps users quickly compare packaging options across different distributors while still having access to the specific terminology used by each supplier.
