Buymanager offers two methods for managing the costing of multiple products in a quote:
- Aggregate costing: Combines all costings into a single global costing without adding quantities
- Consolidated costing: Add all quantities of identical components into a single costing
Why do you need it?
- Establish the overall cost of a project with multiple products
- Avoid repeating the same costing steps for each product
- Optimize prices by grouping quantities (for consolidated costing)
- Save time in the cost estimation process
Prerequisites and audience
- Users working with multiple BOMs in the same deal
- No special administrative rights required
How it works
When to use each type of costing?
1. Use consolidated costing when:
- You order all items at the same time
- You have multiple BOMs with multiple quantities
- You have multiple BOMs with a single quantity
2. Use pre-costing, then price copying (recommended method) or aggregate costing when:
- You are NOT ordering items at the same time
- You have one BOM with multiple quantities
Differences between costing types
Example with two BOMs having a common item (Item 1) with different quantities:
- Aggregate costing: Displays all items and quantities separately, with duplicate lines for the same item with different quantities

- Consolidated costing: Displays all items and adds up all quantities of identical items
How to create an aggregate or consolidated costing
1. When creating the quote:
- In the quote creation window, choose the type of costing you want to use
2. From initial costing:
- Open your Deal >> Initial-costing >> "Aggregate or Consolidate all costings" button
- Modify the "Description" if necessary
- Use the "trash" icon to remove costings you don't want to include
- Go to "Consolidation" >> open the aggregate or consolidated costing
- Follow the standard costing procedure and consultation process
- In the final costing, you can copy prices to other pre-costings to get individual prices
This approach allows you to efficiently manage multiple costings while optimizing prices based on your purchasing strategies.
