After importing a BOM, Buymanager may prompt you to clarify manufacturers if they were not automatically recognized.
Why This Step is Needed
This clarification step is necessary when manufacturers from your imported BOM are not automatically recognized by the application. This can occur due to a typo in the raw data, a reference to a subsidiary or abbreviation instead of the official company name, or simply because this is the first time you are importing a BOM with this particular company listed, making it unknown to your database.
What is this feature?
This feature is a crucial step to ensure that Buymanager accurately refers to the correct manufacturer. The application will display a list of companies that require your attention, providing options to clarify each item.
Audience & Prerequisites
- All Buymanager Deal Module users who are importing a BOM to be quoted.
- You must be able to access the “Deal Module” within Buymanager.
How to Resolve Manufacturers
Items requiring your attention will be displayed immediately after you have imported your BOM, under the “Unknown manufacturer” section. Each item will have a warning sign beside it, which will be removed once the item is clarified.
Buymanager provides three options to resolve manufacturers and suppliers:
- Select Proposal (when available)
- Search
- Create
1. Select Proposal
This option is only available when the manufacturer’s name already has an equivalent saved in your database. If available, always prioritize this option to avoid creating duplicate names for the same company and to keep your database organized.
When you click this option, a list of available equivalent names will be displayed, allowing you to choose the most appropriate one. Select the item and click “Confirm”.
You can also remove equivalent names that you think are redundant or no longer relevant by clicking the X sign next to that line.
2. Search
Use this option if “Select Proposal” is not available. You can either click “Search” or use the search toolbar above it to enter the manufacturer’s name.
Once you select the appropriate company from the search results, the “Save as equivalent name” button will become clickable. If you would like this name to always be associated with the manufacturer, simply click “Save as equivalent name”.
3. Create
If, after searching, you still cannot find the manufacturer, you can add it to your database. Click “Create” and enter the required information. Fill in the company name, assign a code to it, or use the wheel button to generate an automatic code. Then, choose the type of the company and click “OK”.
Solving in Bulk
When applying an equivalent name or removing manufacturers from your list, you can handle this in bulk by selecting all the required items, choosing the appropriate action from the dropdown menu, and then clicking “Execute”.
